Dinesh Chandimal Suspended & SL Fined for slow over rate

Sri Lanka T20 Captain Dinesh Chandimal has been suspended by the Match Referee for slow over rate for one match. He had a suspended sentence active for 12 months and yesterday's delay brought about the penalty,plus a fine of 20% match fee.The Sri Lanka team is fined 10% of their match fee.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after the side, led by Dinesh, was ruled to be one over short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

 

In accordance with the regulations of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

 

Lasith Malinga will Captain the next match against New Zealand on Monday the 31st of March 2014.
