The Embassy premises were illuminated with Poson lanterns lit and coloured electric lights. Poson devotional songs were played at the Embassy on the day following poya day to create Poson atmosphere. Poson, which marks the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka in the third century B.C, is second only to Vesak in terms of importance for the Buddhists in Sri Lanka.
