Ireland v Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI: Persistent rainfall forces washout

    May 09, 2014

Sri Lankan team will leave Dublin on Friday with the end of the first series of their tour.

For the second time in three games the Sri Lankan side was forced off without bowling a delivery due to heavy rain fall.Heavy rain which left the surrounds of the square saturated meant that no play was possible despite the best efforts of the local groundstaff.  Umpires Richard Kettleborough, Richard Smith and match referee Chris Broad officially abandoned the game following a ground inspection at 2:20pm on Thursday.

Sri Lanka resume action at Chelmsford on Tuesday ahead of T20, ODI and test series against England while Ireland's next game will come as part of a 50-over series at the end of July  against a Sri Lanka A team that is sure to feature some of the younger members in action this week.
