Green Awards 2013/2014

For the third consecutive year The National Green Awards held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on 12th of May 2014. With the distinguish patronage of  Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President of Republic, Socialist, Democratic of Sri Lanka was participated as the chief Guest.

Addressing the audience President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said that the developed countries have had to spend considerable proportions of their budget to protect the environments that they devastated. Now these countries are trying to protect the environment for the future generation, for fear that the flora fauna would be become extinct.

 

He also said that for over 2, 500 years, Sri Lankan have been protect not for such reasons, but as they believed that it was their duty and responsibility. “Now the time has come to understand and accept that great philosophy” the president added.

 

According to four categories medals were awarded. Those are Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit.

 

Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Environmental & Renewable Energy, B.M.U.D. Basnayake, secretary, Ministry of Environmental & Renewable Energy,  D.W. Prathapasinghe, Chairman of CEA, Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma, Director General of CEA, Senior Management of CEA, Industrializes, Government Officers, Local Authorities, Hospitals, Privet sectors & other distinguish Guest were also participated.

 

In this glamorous function Gold medal winners awarded by the President Mahinda Rajapakse. There were 12 Gold winners, 13 Silver winners, 17 Bronze winners & 9 Merit winners were presented awarded in this function.

 

By conducting this kind of competition and award ceremony, CEA hope to create green & clean environment with development of the country. By encouraging & inspiring those people can receive good outcome from them.
