England's premier pace bowler James Anderson failed to take a Test wicket for the first time in 59 matches. He went wicket-less in the ongoing second Ashes Test at Lord's.
The 32-year-old right-arm bowler endured a bad outing in the match, bowling a total of 33 overs as Australia set England a huge fourth innings target of 509 runs.
Last time Anderson failed to take a wicket was in January 2010, against South Africa at Johannesburg. His run has been second longest, after legendary Fred Trueman who took 307 wickets in 67 successive Test matches for England. Trueman was also the first bowler to take 300 Test wickets.
After making his Test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe at the Lord's, Anderson has taken 406 wickets so far, including two 10-wicket and 17 five-wicket hauls, in an illustrious career.
He is England's leading wicket taker in both Test and One-Day cricket (269).
