    222 schools contest U-19 Cricket League matches

    Singer Sri Lanka with the main objective of developing school cricket in Sri Lanka has extended its support for schools cricket for the third successive season which covers the Under-19, 17 and 15 categories.

    Asoka Pieris CEO of Singer Sri Lanka said:that they do not expect any financial benefits by sponsoring this tournament

     

    Sri Lanka Cricket Vice-President Kushil Gunasekara said their main target is to win the Youth World Cup in 2016 or in 2018. . He said it was unfortunate that we could not win the ICC U19 World Cup in-spite of having the best schools cricket system in the world.

     

    There will be as many as 1150 League matches with 222 schools contesting the first round while the Limited Over tournament will showcase 110 matches with a total of 4400 players taking part in the tournament.

     

    The winner's trophy of the Singer schools U19 cricket tournament was unveiled at the ceremony.
