    Sri Lanka’s per capital income had increased by between 50% and 100% due to the right economic policies of the government, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, at meetig in Mawathagama. Wickremesinghe pointed out that the government employees had received salary hikes exceeding 100%.

    The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka recently held a Business and Investment Forum at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) in Ahmedabad, targeting the Chamber’s membership. his Forum was supported by the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi and the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai. Malik Samarawickrama Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade led a Business delegation comprising Ravi Dadlani, Managing Director CEAT Kelani Holdings, Vivek Mehata, CEO MAS Brands India, Sanjay Jain, Executive Director & COO, Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC and Shantha Bandara, COO, Sunshine Holdings.

    The government has granted the promised concessions for airlines (in the aftermath of the Easter blasts) at the Colombo Airport to attract more international airlines to fly to Sri Lanka. “This positive and immediate action taken by the Government, especially by the Prime Minister, Minister John Amaratunga and DGCA, Nimalsiri, in response to the urgent request made by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, comes at a critical time and is most appreciated,” said Johanne Jayaratne, Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

    President Maithripala Sirisena awarded Veerodhara Vibushana medals to two war heroes today. This highest gallantry medal awarded by the Commander-in-Chief for all the serving officers in Army, Navy and Air Force in recognition of their unmatched valour, dedication and unfailing commitment, stated the President’s Media Division.
