    Mihindu Seth Medura' turns 3 and 'Lanka Hospitals' arrives at 12th year

    Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa accompanied by Chairperson of the MoD Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa joined with the war hero inmates of 'Mihindu Seth Medura in an 'All Night Pirith Ceremony' held at Aththidiya, Ratmalana yesterday (6th June).


    The Pirith Ceremony was held in view of the 3rd anniversary of the 'Mihindu Seth Medura', the healing home for the disabled war heroes.


    The night long 'Pirith Chanting' ceremony was held to invoke blessing on the war heroes receiving care at the healing home. Ven. Prof. Bellanwila Wimalaratana Anunayake Thero conducted the sermon during the session.


    'Mihindu Seth Medura' concept is the brainchild of the Secretary Defence. It was declared open on 30th May 2011 dedicated for the care of disabled war heroes.


    This 46-acre healing home complex is tucked away in the green suburbs of Colombo, and stands in a splendid isolation, bordered by the Aththidiya bird sanctuary. The perfect tranquility of this site best suits the recuperation of the inmates.


    Chief of Defence Staff including Commanders of armed forces, Defence Ministry Officials and a large gathering of Senior Military Officials were also among the distinguished invitees present at the ceremony.


    Meanwhile, Secretary Defence also graced the Pirith chanting ceremony organized by the Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC as the chief guest at the Hospital premises. They have organized the event in view of the 12th anniversary of the Hospital.


    Lanka Hospitals Colombo is a multi-specialty tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka and is one of the largest private hospitals in the country.


    Chief Executive Officer including the hospital staff and a large gathering were present at the event.(MoD)
