    Korea pledges support for Sri Lankan Government's stability

    Korea expressed its readiness give their support for the development of industrial, investment, education and tourism sectors in Sri Lanka.

    Chang Won Sam, New Korean Ambassador for Sri Lanka said there is a great friendship between Sri Lanka and South Korea from a long period, and Korean Government is always willing to give their support to Sri Lanka with the intention of further strengthening that friendship.

    He said so when he met Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Dr.D.M.Jayaratne at Prime Minister’s Office Monday (09), after assuming duties as the new Korean Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

    He noted that, at present many Sri Lankans have been granted jobs in Korea and they immensely contribute for the development of Korea thereby widening tourism, trade promotion, investment and educational sectors  creating many job opportunities for Sri Lankans.  It is a pleasure to state that, today, Sri Lanka has gained a massive development and Sri Lanka should not be divided into parts he further added.

    He proclaimed that, they are well acquainted with the hardships that  has to be faced by being divided and pledged to give their continuous support for the stability of Sri Lankan Government.

    Prime Minister, Dr.D.M.Jayaratne stated that, the support given by Korea for the development of Sri Lanka is highly appreciated by Sri Lankan government and  expressed desire to  receive continuous support in the future, as well.  Prime Minister further stated that Korea has contributed immensely for the development of the country, like many countries in the region.

    He further said that although the development process had been halved  for a certain period, government is achieving a rapid progress and the policies are being made to accelerate the same.

    S.Amarasekara, Secretary to the Prime Minister was also present at the occasion.
