    State Music Awards 2015 today at BMICH

    State Music Awards Festival 2015, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Panel of Music of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka for the fourth consecutive year, under the direction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, North – Western Development and Cultural Affairs to accolade the musicians and confer State houors on them will be held today (17) at 4.30 p.m. at BMICH Colombo 07, under the aegis of President Maithripala Sirisena, with the participation of S.B. Nawinna Minister of Internal Affairs, North – Western Development and Cultural Affairs

    Certificates , awards and cash prizes will be awarded for the selected best Sinhla and Tamil vocalist (male/Female) , Lyrics and composition, Visual C.D., Children’s songs (male/Female) , Folk songs new creations, Radio music programme and group song from among the creations of 2014. ten commorative awards and 02 special awards are to be awarded for musicians who have rendered an inestimable service for the advancement of Sri Lankan art of music.

    Commemoration awards will be presented to, professor Amara Ranatunga for music education, Prof. Sunil Ariyaratna for lyrics, Latha Walpola for light music ficld, Stanly M. Fernando for new creative music ficld, Victor Ratnayaka for Cinema Music, Padmasiri Mendis for sound production, Nanda Perera for Folk Music, A Ragunadan for South Indian music , Bridget Halpe for western music and special awards to Sumathipala Perera for Bila music and Tissasiri Perera for creative music.
