    Sri Lanka Navy arrests 19 Indian Fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan Waters

    Sri Lanka Navy arrested 19 Indian fishermen and 04 Indian fishing trawlers engaged in poaching in the seas north of Mannar  on Wednesday (26). The arrested fishermen and the trawlers were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Thalaimanner for legal action.

    The Navy Media Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya categorically stated that the Indian fishermen or the trawlers were not attacked at any point by the Sri Lankan Navy.


    Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to salvage an Indian fishing trawler with a o5–member crew, which had run-aground near Kachchatheevu Island on the same day (26). The rescued Indian fishermen were handed over to Delft Police for further action.
