    Aussie Minister Scott Morrison to visit Lanka Featured

    Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka next week, according External Affairs Ministry sources.

    During his state Morrison will attend a commissioning ceremony for the two former Australian Customs and Border Protection Service Bay Class patrol vessels gifted to the Sri Lankan Government.

    Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera is expected to welcome Morrison at the VIP Lounge in the Katunayake International Airport.

    Bilateral relations between Australia and Sri Lanka have reached highs in the recent past and the two nations have taken joint actions to prevent asylum seekers using Indian Ocean routes to enter Australia.

    Morrison is also slated to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa, senior government ministers and top brass of security forces during his stay here. (HC)
