    Social Integration Week 2014 - July 14 - 20

    The Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration has made arrangements to carry out activities island-wide in connection with the Social Integration Week commencing from today (14) to July 20.

    The Social Integration Week will be organized based on the National Unity Convention held on 4th April 2014 under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa under the theme "Social Integration through National Unity".  


    The Government declared the week from July 14 to 20 to create awareness in the society of the importance of social integration.


    The Ministry has taken measures to introduce new initiatives this year and today a Cultural event  will take place at the Royal Residence of Parakramabahu the Great (Wijayanthi Prqasada), in Polonnaruwa. The other events include establishment of Northern and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Centres in Killinochchi and Kuruvita (Ratnapura District) respectively, conduct of seminar series for Grade 5 Scholarship examination in 25 districts, conducting mobile services for civil documentation.  A Kite Festival will be held in Sri Lankan coastal areas on the sixth day (19)..


    The closing ceremony will be held on July 20 with a stake holders conference and launch of the National Action Plan for Social Integration.(KH)
