Join the Kite Festival today at seven coastal locations

    July 19, 2014

Being a multicultural country with many diverse groups of people, Sri Lanka, under the leadership of the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration calls for strong unity and harmony between these groups.

In this context, the Ministry organizes the Social Integration Week from 14 to 20 July 2014. The United Nations Volunteers are supporting this efforts by using the simple and enjoyable act of kite flying, bringing together families from all ways of life and many areas of the country to mingle, share their commonalities and learn about each other.

The UN Volunteers invite all to join them on Saturday, 19th July from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm in any of the seven coastal locations around Sri Lanka for this fun filled event. The locations are -  Batticaloa, Colombo, Galle, Hambantota, Jaffna, Mannar and Mullaitivu. They also invite to join the festival and try out various food items unique to each location and different ethnic groups, learn how to write once name in Tamil, Sinhala and English, and try  at flying a kite with them for the great cause.(KH/SI)
