Asian-Pacific Postal Union’s Annual Ex-Co. Meeting in Colombo

    July 22, 2014

Sri Lanka will hold the Annual Executive Council Meeting of Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU) 2014 from September 15-19 in Colombo. Posts Minister Jeevan Kuamaranatunga said the inaugural ceremony will be held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 15th September.

Asian-Pacific Union is an inter-governmental organization comprising 32 administrative unions of regional countries.  Approximately 150 foreign representatives and a group of representatives including the Director General of the Universal Postal Union will be participating at the event.

Subsequent to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held last year in Sri Lanka, this conference which involves the participation of 32 member countries will be a golden opportunity to disseminate the image of Sri Lanka to the Globe, Minister Kumaranatunga pointed out.  Further it will be a significant platform to reap the international business opportunities by strengthening the relationships of regional postal service and will benefit the ongoing exercise to improve tourism, he added.(KH)
