    Increase in Monsoonal Showers on Southwestern part

    The Met Dept. Dept. says that there is a possibility for an increase in monsoonal showers in the southwestern parts.  Afternoon or evening thundershowers is also possible in the drought prevailing Northern and Eastern parts of the country.

    Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers will spread to the Northwestern province too.

    Afternoon or evening thundershowers will develop at several places in the Eastern, North central and Uva provinces.

    There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. Strong winds at times (up to 60kmph) can be expected over the central hills.

    General public is  requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.


    City Forecast:

    Afternoon or evening thundershowers in  Anuradhapura, Batticaloa and Trincomalee.

    Showers at times in Colombo, Galle, Nuwara Eliya, Rathnapura and Kandy.

    Showers are likely in Mannar and Jaffna.


    Max. Temperature of 35 °C is expected from Trincomalee.
     
    Min. Temperature of 12 °C is expected from Nuwara Eliya.

    Max. Temperature of 37.6 °C reported from Polonnaruwa.

    Min. Temperature of 14.3 °C reported from Nuwara Eliya.

    Maximum Rainfall of 62.5 mm reported from Katunayake.
