Applications to Vote by Post ends on August 06

    August 04, 2014

The receipt of applications to vote by post at the Uva Provincial Council Elections will end on August 06.

The Elections Commissioner announced that all the state officers / Principals / teachers who are expected to be deployed for election duties at these elections should apply to vote by post and are required to submit their applications before August 06, to the relevant elections office.

None of the officers on duty at polling stations will be allowed, for whatever reason, especially to go out of the polling station to cast votes at a polling station located away from the polling station where the officers are deployed to.  Non submission of applications to vote by post or rejection of postal votes are not reasons for exemption from election duties.  All the officers in the Uva Province who are expected to be deployed for election duties are urged to apply for facilities to vote by post without any further delay.

The Elections Commissioner further announce that the members of the armed forces, police officers, employees of Sri Lanka Transport Board, Department of Posts and of the Sri Lanka Railways who are eligible to vote by post at the Uva Provincial Council Elections should submit their applications to vote by post to the relevant District Elections Office before August 06.(KH)
