    Army Commander Inspects New Defence HQ's Complex

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army recently made a surprise visit to the new Defence Headquarters complex, now nearing completion at Pelawatte, Battaramulla. He was received by Major General Udaya Nanayakkara, Director, Project Management Unit on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development.


    The Commander who saw for himself how different tri-service headquarters are receiving final touches with separate partitions, branches, etc.


    shared a couple of words on latest technologies, being used for erection of this modern pre-fabricated headquarters complex and delivered a brief address to the workforce on the site.


    Lieutenant General Ratnayake before his exit from the venue did not forget to look into accommodation and cooking facilities, being provided to Engineer troops working there. He took a personal interest in preparation of food for the tri-service members working in the complex.


    Major General Nanayakkara gave a comprehensive briefing on the final preparations and explained how the project is to be brought to completion according to the deadline.
