    Sri Lanka to be represented at World Military Cadet Games 2014

    A contingent of 23 Cadet Officers representing Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Airforce will take part in the World Military Cadet Games 2014 scheduled to be held in Ecuador.  The event is being organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM).

    Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera, who is the President of the Defence Services Sports Board addressing these tri-services cadet officer contingent congratulated the sports personnel who are scheduled to take part in swimming, shooting and athletics at the mega event.


    The Navy Commander expressed his confidence that they will be able to bring honour to the motherland performing well at the Cadet Games. He also requested them to use this opportunity to the maximum promoting solidarity and world peace competing with cadet officers of different militaries in the world.

    Founded on the 18th of February 1948, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) is one of the largest multidisciplinary organizations in the world. They organize various sporting events for the armed forces of  133 member countries. The Council's ultimate goal is to contribute to world peace by uniting armed forces through sports. The motto under which they operate is  "Friendship through Sport".(KH)
