    Updated: The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Hudhud” is moving towards India

    The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Hudhud” in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Very Severe cyclonic storm and located about 900 km to the North-east to the Jaffna. It is moving towards India. Under the influence of the system, increase of wind speed over the island (particularly in the Northern areas) and in the surrounding sea areas is possible.’ said Met. Dept.

     

    Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers may spread to the North-western province too.

     

    Thundershowers will develop at several places in the Uva, Eastern and Northen provinces during the afternoon or evening.

     

    There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.

    Thundershower during the afternoonor evening in Trincomalee and Batticaloa.


     
    A few showers are likely in Anuradhapura, Jaffna and Mannar.


     
    Several spells of showers in Colombo, Galle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura.
