    Sri Lankan and Indian Navy hold 24th IMBL Meeting on board SLNS Sagara

    The 24th International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) meeting between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Indian Navy / Coast Guard was held on board SLNS Sagara at the Indo- Sri Lanka Maritime Boundary Line off Kankasanthurai on 16th October 2014.

    Sri Lanka Navy delegation was headed by the Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Sarath Dissanayake. The Indian delegation was headed by Naval Officer in Command (Tamil Nadu & Puducherry) Commodore AK Mahadevan.

    The Indo-Sri Lanka IMBL meeting is held once a year to strengthen the naval relationship between the two neighboring countries.

    During this year’s session, matters of mutual interests related to prevention of smuggling narcotics and other illegal items and illegal fishing activities in the Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar sea areas were discussed.(SLN/KH)
