    Govt mulls implementing anti-corruption programme

    The new government mulls to launch the national anti-corruption programme to ensure the implementation of government’s anti-corruption programme in keeping with President Maithripala Sirisena’s 100-day plan, Media Minister and the Chief Government Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka said.

    He pointed out that the government’s anti-corruption instrument will be reformed with an empowered legal framework to fight corruption effectively to combat the abuse of public office for private gain, theft, bribery involving political and bureaucratic corruption, and isolated and systematic corruption.


    The minister in an intrview with a local media has said that a special commission to investigate allegations of massive corruption will be appointed within the stipulated 100 days, he added.
