Sri Lankan Government refutes allegations made by Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe with regard to signing of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce the resources for free education.

The Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena addressing a media briefing held at the Government Information Department today (28) said that the government would never cut the resources for free education regardless of any pressure from the IMF or any other agency. He challenged the Opposition to prove the allegations saying that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has offered to resign if the allegations are proved. (kh/st)
