    Civil Representatives nominated to Constitutional Council

    Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne (founder of the Sarvodaya Shramadana movement of Sri Lanka), Dr. Radhika Kumaraswami (Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict) and former Supreme Court Judge Shibly Aziz have been nominated as civil representatives to the Constitutional Council yesterday (Sep. 10).

    President Maithripala Sirisena and the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed their representatives to the constitutional council on Wednesday. Accordingly, Minister Champika Ranawaka was appointed as the representative of the President while Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa was appointed as the representative of the Prime Minister.

     

    The names of the nominees will be presented to the Parliament for approval on 22nd of this month.
