Survey shows a massive victory for UPFA

    March 25, 2014

The Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that beyond any form of doubts whatsoever, the United Peoples Freedom Alliance will record a historic victory at the forthcoming provincial council election.

He said that this fact has been substantiated through the latest surveys conducted in the six districts of the western and southern provinces. There are 27 electorates in the six districts.

He said that elections are being held in an area in which majority of the votes belong to the category of patriotic masses who have always taken the leadership in defeating foreign threats.

Referring to the opposition groups, the Minister said that the United National Party will be able to win only three or four seats in these districts.

The survey has been conducted by a group of professionals and intellectuals. It has also been established that the UPFA will receive 60-65 percent of votes from every electorate.

Minister Alahapperuma disclosed these facts addressing a media conference in Colombo Monday.  The Minister also stated that the UNP propaganda is restricted to Colombo and its residents. He also said that the UNP which does not have a propaganda campaign based on democratic ideals or policies are only engaged in insulting the President and his family members by holding media concerts. He added that it is regrettable to find certain groups attempting to shatter religious harmony and reconciliation.

The Secretary General of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance Minister Susil Premajayanth said the opposition has nothing for the masses and the UPFA is carrying out its propaganda activities in an organized manner. (niz)
