The Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade Johnston Fernando said that Lak Sathosa has made arrangements to provide essential consumer items without any shortage during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season.

The Economic Development Ministry after harvesting the yields of 500,000 moringa oleifera plants, distributed them among people of different districts in the island under the Divi Neguma National programme. The UPFA won the highest number of votes in the Hambantota District with 174,687 votes at the Provincial Council election while the UNP secured 79,829 votes, the JVP 39,345 votes and the Democratic Party 9547 votes. According to the final results of the Hambantota District, UPFA has won 8 seats, the UNP 4 seats and the JVP 2 seats,
All arrangements have been made to issue election results as and when they are received by the Government Information Department. Representatives from all Media Institutions are gathered at the Media Development Centre of the government Information Department to release results of the Western and Southern Provincial Councils.
