    Foreign, local elements behind Karachi airport attack: Nisar

    Interior minister says detailed inquiry ordered of security breach.


    Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has said the terrorists, who attacked the Karachi airport, intended to stage a long scene by holding passengers hostage.

    Addressing a news conference in Karachi, he said they were equipped with rocket launchers and other modern gadgets besides having a good stock of food and medicines.The Minister said a detailed post-mortem and biometrics would be carried out of all ten terrorists to prove their identity.  He said the elements behind the attack will get response in kind.

     

    Nisar also said that 19 people, including 11 ASF personnel were martyred and 29 injured in the attack. He said foreign as well as local elements are involved in recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

     

    To a question, the interior minister said he has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident to fix responsibility of the security breach. Chaudhry Nisar paid rich tribute to security agencies especially Airport Security Force and Army for successfully combating the terrorists.

     

    He said the county is confronted with internal and external enemies, which demands national unity and commitment and instead of any political scoring, this is time to unite as theenemy is unseen and hidden and has targeted the entire country.

     

    Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday the security forces had foiled the designs of terrorists by taking immediate action within hours of the attack on Karachi Airport. (KH/SI)
