    Gas pipeline blast kills 14 in Andra Pradesh

    A blast occurred in a pipeline maintained by GAIL India carrying gas to Lanco power station killing atleast 14 villagers including three women and three children has caused disruption among villagers to stage a protest at the Gas Collection Station (GCS) near Nagarm village.

    Gail is India's largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company.

    The villagers said their lives were endangered by laying the pipeline through the residential area.

    They alleged that the officials did not take measures for their safety despite several complaints.

    Coconut plantations on about 10 acres of land, which the region is famous for, were gutted and a report is being obtained on all these aspects.
