Sri Lanka looking at electronic court filing system

Sri Lanka is looking at introducing an electronic court filing system, Chief Justice Priyasath Dep said.The Chief Justice had said this while attending the 13th Conference of the Presidents of Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Beijing.

A number of Chief Justices, Heads of Supreme Courts, Supreme Court and High Court Judges, other officials of the Judiciary and the diplomatic corps attended the conference.Sri Lanka was represented at the conference by Chief Justice His Lordship Priyasath Dep and Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare.

At the conference, Chief Justice Priyasath Dep presented Sri Lanka’s views on improving the judiciary system and touched upon the possibility of introducing an electronic filing system.The Chief Justice of Sri Lanka was complimented by many country representatives on the views that he expressed at the conference.

Chief Justice Dep also called on Chief Justice Zhou Qiang, Head of Supreme Court of China. He was accompanied by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China Dr Karunasena Kodituwakku and Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare.Deputy Chief of Mission Shani Karunaratne also attended the conference as a member of the Sri Lanka delegation.
