    November 27, 2014

Pakistan will host the 19th SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Summit conference.

This has been announced by Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz while addressing a news conference in Kathmandu.

He said the SAARC leaders have reiterated their commitment to move forward in different fields.

The Adviser said an agreement on energy cooperation among the SAARC countries is being signed while accords for links through railway and roads will be finalized shortly.

He said Pakistan wants to see China as a permanent member of SAARC and it also supports observer's status for Turkey.

To a question, the Adviser ruled out formal meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Kathmandu.

He regretted the unilateral cancellation of foreign secretary-level talks by India.

On the occasion, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui said resolution of disputes is vital to put South Asia on the track of development and prosperity.(KH/PBC)
