State Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasantha Senanayake paid an official visit to El Salvador from 6 -9 July and represented Sri Lanka in the first session of bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka and El Salvador. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Integration and Economic Promotion Carlos Castaneda led the El Salvador side during the bilateral political consultations.
The World Bank Board of Directors today approved a $200 million loan to help increase the use and the quality of Sri Lanka's primary healthcare services. The Primary Healthcare System Strengthening Project builds on years of experience and lessons in Sri Lanka's health sector and will focus on detection and management of non-communicable diseases in high-risk population groups, responding to the needs of the poorest of the population, a press release said.
The government would decide on fuel prices in the domestic market on the 10th of every month after taking into account the fluctuation of fuel prices in the global market, Cabinet Spokesman, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka on Friday said Sri Lanka’s gross official reserve position is estimated to have improved to around US$ 9.2 billion by end June 2018, compared to US$ 8 billion at end 2017. Releasing the fourth Monetary Policy Review, in which the financial regulator decided to maintain policy interest rates at current levels, the Central Bank said it has recorded net foreign exchange absorption of US $141 million from the domestic market in the first half of 2018.
Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha will arrive at Sri Lanka on July 12th for a 2-day official visit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.On his visit, the Thai Prime Minister is scheduled to call on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and high-ranking officials.
