The Index of industrial production (IIP) has increased by 1.1% in July 2018 compared to the same month in 2017. The IIP reported for the month of July 2018 and 2017 were 105.9 and 104.8 respectively.In terms of manufacturing industries 10 out of 20 industry groups have shown positive growths in volume of production. The industry groups: ‘Printing and reproduction of recorded media, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products and manufacture of textiles have shown a remarkable increases of 37.2%, 26.5% and 13.7% respectively in their volume of production duringthe month of July, 2018 compared to that of July 2017. The volumesof basic metal products and food products have increased by 12.5% and 0.1% respectively.

This housing project comprises of 500 housing units and it was constructed under the Urban Regeneration Programme of the Urban Development Authority under the guidance of Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development.

Sri Lanka will launch an island wide off season marketing campaign, targeting specific countries, Minister of Tourism and Christian Affairs John Amaratunge said.Speaking at the press conference he said that, “This scheme was developed four months ago with the assistance of 18 airlines, 33 destination marketing companies, advertising agencies and local hotels.”

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul and the Nations Trust Bank jointly conducted a series of five workshops on entrepreneurial education targeting Sri Lankan employees in the Republic of Korea, in Cheonan, Gimhae, Gimpo, Ulsan and Ansan regions from 11 to 19 August 2018.The workshops comprised a specialized programme on entrepreneurial education launched by the Embassy in conjunction with its customary Diriya Maga Awareness Raising and Counseling Programme, to enhance knowledge of financial management and entrepreneurship among returning Sri Lankan employees in order to facilitate their smooth re-integration into the productive labour force of home country. For the first time, the programme introduced a series of focused lectures by a qualified resource person,i.e., Senior Lecturer of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Dr. D. Aminda Methsila Perera, who made succinct presentations on financial management, savings, investment and entrepreneurial skills including how to start a small business, to Sri Lankan employees.
