The Ministry of Finance today (03) convened a high-level donor forum bringing together diplomatic missions, bilateral and multilateral development partners and international lending agencies to assess the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah and coordinate assistance for national relief, rescue and restoration efforts.

In support of the government’s programme to provide relief to those affected by the adverse weather conditions, Mr. Kumara Ekanayake, Managing Director of Avon Pharmo Chem (Pvt) Ltd. together with Mr. Hemanta Punchihewa, an Australian immigration law consultant, donated Rs. 2 million to aid relief efforts.

In line with the directive issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, the Ministry of Finance has approved an increase in the assistance granted for cleaning flood-affected houses and property. Accordingly, the support amount has been raised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. This decision is intended to accelerate the restoration of normal living conditions for communities impacted by the Ditwah cyclone.
A humanitarian relief shipment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived in Sri Lanka this afternoon (02) to support communities severely affected by the recent disaster.
