Athula Tilakaratne, who had been serving a sentence at the Anuradhapura Prison, was released under the Presidential Pardon granted on the occasion of Vesak 2025, and that a serious irregularity may have occurred in connection with this incident.

On the occasion of World Environment Day yesterday (05), a project to manufacture and distribute standardized waste bins made from discarded barrels was launched in the Muturajawela area by Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO).
In line with World Environment Day, a tree planting and conservation project was launched yesterday morning (5) along the coastal stretch of Colombo’s Marine Drive, from the Kollupitiya Railway Station towards Wellawatte.
