Several spells of showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
A few showers may occur in the North Western Province, while showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m. Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the other areas of the island. Fairly strong winds, reaching around 30–40 kmph at times, can be expected over the western slopes of the Central Hills, Northern, North Central, Central and North Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
