Showers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, according to the latest weather forecast.
Several spells of showers may occur in the North Western Province, while showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, North Central and North Western provinces, as well as in the Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
