Sri Lanka and Thailand have agreed to further strengthen their longstanding bilateral relations, following a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Thailand’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sarun Charoensuwan in Bangkok.
Discussions focused on expediting arrangements for a visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports. The proposed arrangement is expected to facilitate travel, tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in several areas, including trade, investment, tourism, labour mobility, education, maritime security and cultural exchanges.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further deepen Sri Lanka-Thailand relations and advance practical areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
