Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage has announced that internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan-American gymnast Tiana Sumanasekera has officially decided to represent Sri Lanka in upcoming international competitions.
Welcoming the athlete's decision, the Minister extended an open invitation to talented sportsmen and sportswomen of Sri Lankan origin living around the world to come forward and represent their motherland on the international stage.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is committed to supporting such athletes by facilitating all necessary coordination and logistical arrangements to enable their participation under the Sri Lankan flag.
The Minister noted that the inclusion of overseas Sri Lankan athletes would strengthen the country's sporting talent pool and contribute significantly to enhancing Sri Lanka's performance in international competitions. He expressed confidence that more athletes of Sri Lankan heritage would respond positively to the invitation and help elevate Sri Lankan sport to greater heights.
