Tourist Arrivals to Sri Lanka Surpass 700,000 in 2026

The number of foreign tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka has surpassed 700,000 so far in 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

Latest data released by the Authority shows that a total of 708,348 tourists visited the country between January 1 and March 25, 2026.

India recorded the highest number of arrivals, with 139,164 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 74,295 and Russia with 63,505 visitors.

Meanwhile, during the first 25 days of March alone, 151,693 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka. Of this number, 39,424 were from India.

In addition, 13,967 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, 13,272 from Russia, 12,166 from China, and 10,523 from Germany during the same period.

The Authority further noted that a total of 229,298 tourists visited Sri Lanka in March last year.
