The atmospheric conditions are getting favorable for afternoon thundershowers in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces in next few days, starting from today.
Several spells of showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
The sun is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 28th of August to 07th of September due to its apparent southward relative motion. The nearest places of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today (03) are Madampe, Thorayaya, Thotagamuwa, Rattota and Kalavanchikudy about 12.09 noon.
