The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has taken steps to conduct a project on the theme 'Social Empowerment of Imprisoned Women' to protect women from repeated offences and prepare their mind sets to survive as reputed citizens
Social Empowerment and Welfare Ministry said that imprisoned women due to minor offenses are the major target group of this Programme .
The objective of this Programme is to protect those women from repeated offences and prepare their mind sets to survive as reputed citizens.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
News.lk publishes in three languages – Sinhala, Tamil and English.
