Norochchcolai Power Plant resumes power generation after repairs

    April 18, 2016

The inactive third generator of the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochchcolai has been restored and the plant commenced power generation Sunday (April 17), the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy official said.

The third generator was shut down after a leak was found in one of its boilers on April 11.

According to the Ministry this is the 25th time the Norochchcolai Power Plant had malfunctioned since it was incorporated to the national grid in the year 2011.

Steps have been taken to prevent such breakdowns in the future and within about three days they were able to restore the power generation of the plant after maintenance and repairs.

The Chinese-built power plant has three generators, each adding 300 megawatts of power to the national grid.
