    Sri Lanka aiming at new dengue vaccine

    Sri Lanka will register a new dengue vaccine once the application is received. The vaccine is being used in four countries, Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Paba Palihawadana said.

    Addressing the media in Colombo recently she said Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Philippines have registered the new dengue vaccine. According to Dr. Palihawadana, the availability of the vaccine is questionable.


    The vaccine is in the initial stages of use, she said.


    Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne recently ordered the Epidemiology Unit to check whether the WHO approved new dengue vaccine is suitable to Sri Lanka.
