Illegal land clearings in Sri Lanka should be prevented to minimize the natural disasters, emphasized the Minister of Social Welfare S.B.Dissanayake.
Addressing a function at the Sathkandura temple in Thalathuoya on Saturday (28th May) he said “the tremendous natural disasters such as recent landslide in Aranayake are occurred due to clearing the lands in mountain areas and laying roads in mountain areas.”
He pointed out the illegal land clearing and the cultivation that destroy the soil should be prevented and otherwise there will not have a better time for the future generation.
