    Legal action against 392 ‘dengue breeders’

    Health authorities have taken legal action against 392 dengue breeders detected during the three day intensive dengue control program implemented in 42 high risk MOH divisions, Health Ministry sources said.

     

    The sources said notices had been issued on 1,771 persons. The team found 1,456 premises with dengue mosquito larvae during the operation. The teams inspected 41,139 premises during the three day intensive dengue control program.

     

    A total of 18,735 dengue cases and 24 deaths had been reported from all parts of the country so far this year. The highest number of dengue cases (6,009) was reported from the Colombo district while Gampaha district recorded the second highest number (1,083) of dengue cases and Kalutara district 1,229 cases, the sources said.

     

    Health authorities deployed over 500 teams in 42 high risk MOH divisions to implement the intensive dengue control program. Over 50 fogging machines and 100 workers were also deployed. More nurses have been deployed at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila and IDH to manage the increasing number of dengue patients, the sources added. (CDN)
