    Pedestrians get injured due to hawkers

    Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faizer Mustafa has received a lot of complaints from businessman.

    Therefore on the Advice of President Maithripala Sirisenaand  Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe the program  to remove all unauthorized hawkers and Bill boards and carts selling goods  by September 15 was launched.  The police officers said that some people get permission to sell lottery tickets or newspapers but  sell other things.

     

    In addition changing the venues of the mobile vehicles, adding parts to mobile vehicles has resulted in pedestrians  experiencing difficulty in walking on the pavement .

     

    The mobile vehicles which were given for people to start self employment projects have been given on rent. In addition the Police has received complaints where the entrance of the shops are hindered  or there is no space to park the vehicles of shop owners.

     

    This has resulted in the pavement becoming a  dangerous place while there have been instances of pedestrians getting injured too.
