    Army together with Ex L.T.T.E. combatants build Keeramalai Housing Project Featured

    Army troops together with ex-L.T.T.E. combatants and beneficiaries are presently engaged in construction work of new houses in Keeramalai area to resettle 971 displaced families who are presently accommodated in 31 relief centers in Jaffna peninsula.

    The project is conducted  under the blessings of President Maithripala Sirisena, Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva with respective coordinating by the Ministry of Defense and the Army.

     

    According to the Army sources, the mega Keeramalai Housing Project, executed under a Joint Project Management Team (JPMT) to complete 100 new houses during the Phase I. Each house cost approximately Rs.9 lakhs and as of Friday (19), nearly 50 percent of construction was completed.

     

    A house built on a 20 perch block, is to include two bed rooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen, toilet and a bathroom. The housing complex also include a community center, playground, nursery, fish market, Police post and other necessary facilities.

     

    A week earlier, a high-level Defense and government delegation, headed by Secretary Defense Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi also supervised the ongoing housing project at Keeramalai.
