    Entertainment city in Battaramulla for children

    Waters Edge has increased its profits by 50% this year and it is a great achievement for a public sector institute, said Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka.

    He made these comments during an agreement signing ceremony between the Urban Development Authority, Waters Edge and the Ministry of Sports to build a sports complex. The agreement was signed under the patronage of the Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera.

     

    Minister said that none of the institutes under his ministry depends on treasury funds or the taxes paid by the people as they have already been converted to profit making institutions and it will be further strengthened in the future.

     

    We have taken steps to develop the Battaramulla area in different spheres such as indigenous food, dances and sports which have developed very fast.

     

    Next year the UDA, Land Development Corporation and Waters Edge will take steps to develop a entertainment city for the children in Battaramulla.

     

    He said most of the government offices which were in Colombo has now been shifted to Battaramulla making it an administrative city therefore a transport centre with special facilities, a highway system connecting Battaramulla as well as a rail road system will be built and work on them have already started said the minister.
