    Three more Reverse Osmosis plants opened

    Sri Lanka Navy opened three more RO plants on 20th January at the village of Katiyawa Tack 1 in Thalawa, Galgitiyagama in Polpithigama and the Naval Base SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa.


    The RO plants installed in Katiyawa and Galgitiyagama will facilitate for 325 and 720 families respectively while the plant set up at SLNS Shiksha is providing safe drinking water for 1,076 naval personnel attached to the base.


    The financial assistance needed for Thalawa and Polpithigama projects was given by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases.


    The Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit utilizing its expertise have installed a total of 105 RO facilities across the country thus far facilitating 47,855 families and 40,600 school children with safe drinking water.
