    Junior sailors’ welfare facilities further expanded in Northwestern Naval Command

    At the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva declared open a new building at the Naval Detachment Anawasala on 23rd December 2022.

    The facility was made available with a view to expanding welfare facilities for junior sailors attached to SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command.

    The Command Civil Engineering Department enabled its industrial expertise and manpower for the construction work which got underway in September 2020. The building consists of the Junior Sailors’ Mess, General Mess and several other amenities for the convenience of junior sailors attached to the establishment.

    A group of senior officers and sailors from the Northwestern Naval Command was present on this occasion.
